Batam

Batam is one of the islands in Indonesia that is close to Singapore & Malaysia. It is the 3rd most tourist destination in Indonesia after Jakarta & Bali. Tourists come from all over the world, but since it is close to Malaysia and Singapore, most of the tourists are from these two countries.

Besides tourism, Batam is an industrial area. Many overseas investors, mainly from shipbuilding, farming, oil & mining, are present. This brings a lot of expatriates (overseas workers) to Batam, making it more colorful with a variety of people, countries, and races.

For tourist attraction, since 2010 the Batam government has been working hard to promote Batam as a tourist destination. There are many facilities being built, such as roads, transportation, and events that could attract tourists. Transportation
There are two ways to get to Batam, either by air or by sea.

By Sea,

If you come from overseas, you can either take a ferry from Singapore (Harbour Front / Tanah Merah) or Malaysia (Johor / Situlang) to Batam.

By Air,

There are many direct flights from Jakarta / Bali / Medan etc. Recently, there is also a direct flight from China to Batam.

Accommodation,
