Many overseas investors, mainly from shipbuilding, farming, oil &amp; mining, are present. This brings a lot of expatriates (overseas workers) to Batam, making it more colorful with a variety of people, countries, and races.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For tourist attraction, since 2010 the Batam government has been working hard to promote Batam as a tourist destination. There are many facilities being built, such as roads, transportation, and events that could attract tourists. As well, of course, visas are provided with an easy process such as Visa on Arrival, etc.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Transportation<br \/>There are two ways to get to Batam, either by air or by sea.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Sea,<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you come from overseas, you can either take a ferry from Singapore (Harbour Front \/ Tanah Merah) or Malaysia (Johor \/ Situlang) to Batam.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By Air,<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are many direct flights from Jakarta \/ Bali \/ Medan etc. Recently, there is also a direct flight from China to Batam.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Accommodation,<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are plenty of accommodations to choose from, ranging from the cheapest to 5-star hotels.
